Kate Sessions Pressed Plant Journal
You’ll have San Diego history in your hands—literally—when you use this journal. The wraparound print comes from pressed leaves that Kate Sessions, the so-called "Mother of Balboa Park," carefully dried and preserved in a small scrapbook. Given to Kate by her mother for her 15th birthday (in 1872), Kate continued to collect and press plants from many locations over time. The journal is now safely stored in our Research Library.
Kate Sessions' love for plants persisted into adulthood, when she singlehandedly planted many hundreds of trees across San Diego, including the grounds of what would become Balboa Park.
This hardcover journal features 128 lined pages and measures approximately 5" x 7.25". It's an aspiring author—or aspiring botanist's—new best friend.
