Bring home a piece of the museum collection with this simple yet comfy unisex T-shirt featuring an iconic cactus painting by A.R. Valentien. In 1908, the artist accepted a commission from local philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps to illustrate the botanical diversity of California. Over the next 10 years, he produced nearly 1,100 watercolor plant portraits of native wildflowers, grasses, ferns, trees, and cacti. The entire collection is now housed in The Nat’s Research Library.

The rare Wolf’s cholla (Cylindropuntia wolfii) is characterized by extremely variable flower color, with beautiful blooms ranging from yellow to deep maroon, and all shades in between. The flowers have red filaments. The Wolf’s cholla occurs only in southern San Diego County and extreme northern Baja California.

This T-shirt is 100% combed, ring-spun cotton and features tThe Nat logo and the artist’s signature on the inside label. It is sure to become a wardrobe staple.
