Wolf’s Cholla Spiral Notebook

$11.99

Field notes or shopping lists, this small spiral notebook is a perfect companion for everyday life. The durable printed cover features a Wolf’s cholla (Cylindropuntia wolfii) painted by artist A.R. Valentien. He was hired by local philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps in 1908 to paint the wildflowers of California, along with grasses, trees, ferns, and cacti from all over the state.

The project lasted 10 years and resulted in nearly 1,100 stunning watercolors, which were donated to the Museum by Scripps’ estate in 1933. Now you can hold one of these plant portraits, as Valentien described them, in your own hands.

Notebook measures approximately 5.5″ × 8.5″ and has 140 dotted pages and a soft-touch cover. The artist's signature is on the front, black back cover.
