Valentien Collection

Bring home a piece of the museum collection with products featuring iconic images, representing local desert species by A.R. Valentien. In 1908, the artist accepted a commission from local philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps to illustrate the botanical diversity of California. Over the next 10 years, he produced nearly 1,100 watercolor plant portraits of native wildflowers, grasses, ferns, trees, and cacti. The entire collection is now housed in The Nat’s Research Library.
