This gorgeous image is the frontispiece (an illustration facing a book’s title page) in Rösel von Rosenhof's Historia naturalis Ranarum nostratium, or The Natural History of Frogs. Published from 1753-1758, this beautifully illustrated book on the biology and life habits of European frogs is housed in our Rare Book Room.

The hardcover journal includes 128 lined single pages and measures approximately 5" x 7.25".
