Coast Prickly-Pear Wall Clock

$37.99
Rethink the humble clock as gorgeous wall art. This watercolor of a flowering coast prickly-pear (Opuntia littoralis) was painted by artist Albert R. Valentien as part of a 10-year undertaking. He was hired by local philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps in 1908 to paint the wildflowers of California, along with grasses, trees, ferns, and cacti from all over the state.

The project resulted in nearly 1,100 stunning watercolors, which were donated to the Museum by Scripps’ estate in 1933. Now you can display one of these plant portraits, as Valentien described them, in your own home.

This clock has a wooden frame, Plexiglass face, and pre-installed backside hook. Requires one AA battery (not included). For indoor use only.
