Prickly Pear Journal

$16.99

A flowering coast prickly pear (Opuntia littoralis) adorns this elegant hardcover journal. Artist Albert R. Valentien painted the watercolor as part of a project to paint the wildflowers of California, along with grasses, trees, ferns, and cacti from all over the state.

Valentien was hired in 1908 by Ellen Browning Scripps, and the project took 10 years to complete. It resulted in nearly 1,100 stunning watercolors, which were donated to the Museum by Scripps’ estate in 1933. Now you can display one of these plant portraits, as Valentien described them, in your own home.

This journal has 128 lined pages and measures approximately 5” x 7.25”.
