Kate Sessions Pressed Plant Pillow Cover

Dream of leaves with this brilliant blue pillow cover featuring pressed leaves from Kate Sessions’ personal scrapbook.

This design comes from pressed leaves that Kate Sessions, the so-called "Mother of Balboa Park," carefully dried and preserved in a small scrapbook, which she started in 1872 at age 15. Her mother gave it to Kate as a birthday gift, and Kate continued to collect and press plants in it from many locations over time. The journal is now safely stored in our Research Library.

Her love for plants persisted into adulthood, when she singlehandedly planted many hundreds of trees across San Diego, including the grounds of what would become Balboa Park.

Displayed on a couch, bed, or armchair, this 14” x 14” polyester pillow cover channels our local natural history. The cover has a double-sided print and a concealed zipper. Pillow insert not included.
